Active Schools Win Council Star Award!
The winners of the 2008 Star Awards were announced at a special presentation ceremony held in Brunton Hall, Musselburgh on Thursday 6 November. The Star Awards recognise the achievements of employees and teams in a number of categories. There were over 100 nominations this year and The Active Schools Programme was selected as the winner in the category of Culture and Sport. The Council's Acting Director of Education and Children's Services, Don Ledingham, presented the award. Congratulations to all Active Schools coordinators who have consistently worked hard to achieve set targets to get young people in schools more active! On average per term during 2007/8 36,000 young people were involved in Active Schools Programmes. This is quite an achievement! Well done Active Schools!
